WORKS

AGAIN

2023-27 | 1hr (ish) | Dance performance Installation

Fall. Get up. Again.

A band of exhausted, raging, trauma-informed lunatics marry humour and tragedy to portray the idea that in a society driven by success, failure is what makes us stronger.

From emotional landscapes, to human relationships, celebrating resilience and the stubborn decision to stand up and try again.

nowHERE vol. 2

2022/23 | 15 min | Site-Specific Performance

Searching for a place of belonging. Finding newfound love for a chosen land. "nowHERE vol. 2" is a 15-minute, site-specific dance in which three generations of Brazilian woman artists reflect on their shared experiences as culturally estranged immigrants. Amok Project's lead artist Carol Mendes, dance artist Ysadora Dias, and musician Daniella Gramani embrace a melting pot of cultural influences, exploring traditional dances and music from Brazilian culture through a contemporary performance lens. "nowHERE vol. 2" is a love letter to being a Brazilian immigrant.

Proximity, distance, relationships, isolation, individuality, and community. This piece is about searching and finding a place of belonging, whether alone or in a group. We scream, cry, laugh, breath and live together, but still utterly alone.
